STEWART’S ICE CREAM DONATION MUCH APPRECIATED
September 30, 2019
(Troy, NY – September 30, 2019). One would think Stewart’s pint sale over the Summer couldn’t get any better. Great ice cream, in a variety of flavors, at a reasonable price. Well, Eddie Bell, Manager of the Stewart’s Shop at Congress St. and 5th Ave in Troy, NY, found a way to make it better.
When customers were buying ice cream at the Congress Street store Eddie encouraged them to buy an additional pint as a donation to REACT, Inc. to be used in children’s programs run by the Troy Housing Authority. By the end of the week 75 pints of ice cream were donated.
REACT, which stands for the Resident Empowered Action Council of Troy, is the city-wide resident organization for all of Troy Housing Authority. In addition to providing advocacy for tenants and running a food pantry, REACT helps to assure that resident programs at the Troy Housing Authority have what they need to succeed.
Eddie Bell was familiar with REACT based on his involvement with the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program. Each year REACT receives approximately $2,000.00 through Holiday Match which is used for Education and Recreation supplies at the Homework Clubs at various Troy Housing Authority sites.
On Monday, September 30, 2019, the Homework Club at Griswold Heights hosted an Ice Cream Social so that parents of children attending could meet staff. Staff and volunteers from the Troy Housing Authority and REACT served ice cream and the children and families said thank you to Eddie Bell and Stewart’s District Manager Bill Majewski who attended the event.
