REVITALIZING RIVER STREET – RENOVATING FALLON APARTMENTS AND INCREASING HOUSING CHOICE
The Troy Housing Authority is very interested in improving the quality of housing that we provide to our tenants. We are also interested in having the property we manage be an asset to the broader community. The Fallon Apartments is a very important site that we manage. We want to make Fallon Apartments a better place to live and have a positive impact on the surrounding community.
The Troy Housing Authority has selected Beacon, Communities Development LLC-New York LLC to help us transform the Fallon Apartments while simultaneously improving the entire neighborhood. Beacon has been working with us on revitalizing the Martin Luther King Apartments. We are also working with Beacon to secure funds for a complete renovation of the Fallon Apartments.
Under normal circumstances we would be scheduling a meeting so that we could engage you in a process to turn everyone’s hopes and dreams into plans for Fallon Apartments and surrounding community. However, due to current social gathering restrictions brought about by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation we can presently only engage you in this process remotely.
Our hope is to apply for funding later this year. If successful we would then begin renovating or building new apartments on the properties acquired through the Troy Community Land Bank Corporation in 2021. Once the new apartments are completed we would relocate Fallon tenants so we could begin site renovations. Fallon tenants would have the option of staying in their new apartment or returning to the Fallon site when completed.
Tenant and community input is very important to us as we continue to move forward with plans to revitalize River Street by renovating Fallon Apartments and increasing housing choice in the community. This page is intended as our way to keep Fallon tenants and the broader community engages in this process. We will be posting presentations and planning documents (see below) on this page for your review and comment.
