Summer Youth Employment at THA & Rensselaer County

May 3, 2016

Get a head start on work experience and earn money this summer!
Applications are being accepted through June 10, 2016 from motivated resident youth, ages 14-18, who are eager to work for the Authority over the summer. Program participants will be selected by lottery from the fully completed applications received by June 10, 2016. Past performance will be considered when making work assignments. Applications received after June 10, 2016 will go on a waiting list.
Work assignments will occur over the Summer. Duties include building and grounds maintenance, clerical office assistance and helping to run programs in our community centers. Youth participating in the Rensselaer County Summer Youth Employment Program may also received similar assignments.
Due to funding limits, the Troy Housing Authority can only offer Summer Youth Employment to a limited number of residents, so all eligible youth are encouraged to apply for employment with Rensselaer County. (See below.)
Troy Housing Authority applications can be obtained at all site offices.
Completed Troy Housing Authority applications are to be returned to:
Thomas Hulihan, Troy Housing Authority
Administrative office
One Eddy’s Lane
Deadline: June 10

The Rensselaer County Summer Youth Employment Program offers eligible youth, ages 14-18, paid job experiences during July and August. Work locations may include Troy Housing Authority sites.
Applications are available through, and should be returned to, School Guidance Offices or by calling 270-2860 (Rensselaer County One-Stop Employment Center).
Opportunities in the Rensselaer County Program are limited, so apply as soon as possible. Completing an application does not always guarantee employment.
Those youth who complete the entire application and submit it by the deadline are eligible to competitively interview for a position this summer. At the interview, be prepared to discuss what kind of work you would like to  do this summer, the transportation you will have to and from work, why you are the best candidate for a job, and whether or not you will be attending summer school.
Deadline: May 27
