Griswold Heights Needs Boy Scout Troop Leaders

December 17, 2015

Griswold Heights is looking for volunteers to re-start its Boy Scouts troop to provide educational, healthy and fun activities for boys who live at the site.
There is currently a Girl Scouts troop at Griswold Heights, and in the past there has been a Boy Scouts troop but it is no longer active.
Troy Housing Authority is working with Boy Scouts of America Twin Rivers Council to re-start the troop. In the future, THA would like to create Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops at other public housing sites.
The current plan is to start a Cub Scouts troop  (grades 1 – 5) at Griswold Heights, which would require at least two adults. Leaders can be male or female. Experience with scouting is ideal, but not necessary. Leaders would receive training and could receive a small compensation.
To begin, meetings would be held every other week. We are hoping to find volunteers by February and begin meeting in March through May or June, and then restart in September.
Boy Scouts of America aims to help boys and young adults build character, learn the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develop personal fitness. They participate in activities like pinewood derbies and sometimes go camping or for other outdoor trips.
Please spread the word if you know someone who may be interested in serving our youth through this valuable program. Any interested persons can call 273-3600 ext. 239 for more information.
