EMERGENCY HOUSING VOUCHERS AVAILABLE

The Troy Housing Authority was recently awarded at least 21 Emergency Housing Vouchers by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Applicants for these unique vouchers must fall into one of these three eligibility tiers:

Tier 1 – Recently Homeless – Individuals and families who are Moving On from Permanent Supposrtive Housing

Tier 2 –  Individuals and families who are Homeless and/or fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking.

Tier 3 – At Risk of Homelessness – Individuals and families who are at risk of losing their housing due to financial need.

In accordance with the HUD guidelines, referrals are being routed through the Coordinated Entry (CE) system of the Rensselaer County Homeless Services Collaborative (RCHSC) for review and prioritization. Recent applicants to the Troy Housing Authority Tenant Based Voucher (Section 8) Program that indicated Homeless Point eligibility will be automatically referred to the CE system for review and prioritization.

The CE system will begin by accepting EHV applications for individuals and families in Tier 1 – Moving on from Permanent Supportive Housing on July 1st, 2021. If you are interested in applying, please contact your current housing provider or housing caseworker for assistance.

The opening date for individuals and families in Tier 2 and 3 will be announced at a later date.
