Healthy Cooking Classes Begin this Week

THA tenants can learn how to shop for and cook nutritious food, along with other healthy habits, at a series of classes offered by the Cornell University Cooperative Extension.
The series is part of the Eat Smart New York program, which promotes healthy eating on a budget. Participants will learn skills like meal planning, smart shopping for vegetables and fruits, basic cooking and food safety skills and more.
Classes begin on Thursday, December 10 at Phelan Court. The first lesson, held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.,  will also include a food demo and tasting with free giveaways like water bottles and cutting board.
(Note: Classes were scheduled to begin Dec. 3 at Phelan, but there was not yet enough interested individuals signed up).
The class at Phelan Court will continue on Dec. 10, Dec. 17, Dec. 31, Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.
At Taylor Apartments, the class for adults is on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to noon beginning on December 8. Every other Tuesday, a youth nutrition program is also offered at 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 .m. at Taylor.
These classes will also begin at Kennedy Towers on Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
