ShaQ VanNess

What is your Background and How did it all start?

Born and raised in Downtown Albany. Grew up living in Albany Housing Authority. Attended Albany High School and The College of Saint Rose for Public Communications.

What inspired you to get into your line of work?

Love communicating with people from all backgrounds and ages. Love being creative in photos/videos and in writing and music.

What do you ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR POSITION AT THA?

Enjoys helping people.

What do you want people to know about you?

Enjoys making people laugh and hugs!!!

If you could meet anyone from the past or present, who would it be?

Anita Baker: Would love to be her backup singer, pick her brain about writing music and just enjoy being in the presence of such a groundbreaking R&B and Soul Icon.

A key female figure to your professional or personal development / career path – and why:

My Alabama Momma Sherry Jones, she has always encouraged me to be who I am and do what I love to do. My Sweet Sherry is blunt, will tell you like it is, cuss you out & give you a hug in the same breath, it is what it is. Momma will never sugar coat anything and will break it alllllll the way down. If you dont know, now you know.

What would you say to your younger self?

It won’t be easy, not every battle deserves a fight.
