What is your Background and How did it all start?

Born in the Bronx projects. Attended SUNY Binghamton for a degree in Anthropology.

What do you want people to know about you?

Freelance graphic artist & designer. Worked as conservator in the Brooklyn Museum. Community Organizer for the 911 Memorial in Brooklyn. I was in the subway when the 1st plane hit and was stuck under the towers until dispatch realized we were there. Designed the 25th Anniversary Vietnam Wall in Washington DC. Designed the Jewish Chaplin Monument in Arlington Cemetery.

What inspired you to get into your line of work?

As a 5-year-old, I saw a card my brother worked on and knew I wanted to be an artist.

How do you balance projects, work load and supervising staff?

Life is work 24/7, compartmentalize time. Learn how to break up time and replenish yourself. Can’t let work overwhelm your life. What qualities make a great leader?

What qualities make a great leader?

Care about people who work for and with you. Respect people.

If you could meet anyone from the past or present, who would it be? And why?

Einstein: he was brilliant and understood the universe. I am amazed by his mind.

A key figure to your professional or personal development / career path – and why?

Marcia Sepos: 1st person to push me to be creative as an artist. Taught me a lot about small business and running a company.

What would you say to your younger self?

Believe in what you are doing. Do something you have a passion for. Don’t let people push you back, you are your only worst enemy.
