Deborah Witkowski

What is your Background and How did it all start?

Born and raised in Saratoga. Graduated from Russell Sage with BA and Masters in Business Administration. Worked 12 years for the City of Troy and 15 years for THA.

What inspired you to get into your line of work?

Always loved finance and business.

What do you ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR POSITION AT THA?

Enjoys helping people, interacting with the board and others on projects to bring safe affordable housing.

What do you want people to know about you?

Family oriented, care about people especially staff and residents.

What qualities make a great leader?

Communication skills. Empower, encourage and support to staff. Realize people are people, be fair and firm when needed.

How do you balance projects, work load and supervising staff?

Time management, super organized, stay on top of projects, patience.

What do you look for in hiring future employees?

Organizational skills, ability to communicate and multitask. Good qualities and skills that will benefit the organization.

If you could meet anyone from the past or present, who would it be? And why?

My sister-in-law, former Chancellor of SUNY who has passed. She was a very good friend.

A key figure to your professional or personal development / career path – and why?

Sue Steele, who challenges me. She is supportive and encouraging of the projects and direction THA is headed. I enjoy working with her.
